DPG boosts interns' professional skills with successful training
David Pieris Group recently hosted a training programme aimed at equipping its interns with a well-rounded understanding of the company’s operations.
This initiative brought together 77 participants, offering them a deep dive into the inner workings of DPG's diverse portfolio.
The three day sessions, held at Facilities Complex 2, Manufacturing Complex in Ranna and Pearl Bay provided these interns with a platform for them to learn directly from experienced employees, who served as resource persons.
These internal experts led interactive workshops and presentations, sharing key insights into the company’s processes, business strategies, and industry best practices.
Empowering Sustainability at DPG
As part of its commitment to sustainability, the David Pieris Group recently conducted a training programme for our Leaders and Finance teams.
At the programme, the resource person, Mr. Chathumin Gunarathne (Partner at Deloitte and Alternate Chairman of Sustainability Disclosure Standards Committee at CA Sri Lanka,) shared his valuable insights on ESG and SLFRS S1 & S2, helping our leaders understand ways and means of integrating these standards into our business models.
DPG elevates managerial skills with comprehensive training
In a bid to foster a culture of continuous learning and to elevate managerial skills of its employees, the David Pieris Group recently concluded a Management Development Training Programme. This interactive two-day session was specifically designed to empower the management team with advanced skills and innovative practices in leadership and management.
The training programme, which was conducted by renowned trainer Mr. Sanjeev Jayaratnam, was marked by an immersive approach. Mr. Jayaratnam's expertise and dynamic training methods played a crucial role in refining the managerial capabilities of participants through a series of practical exercises and in-depth sessions.
The culmination of the training was highlighted by a half-day recap session where senior executives, including the Group Chairman and Managing Director Mr. Rohana Dissanayake and senior directors, observed the practical learning journey undertaken and witnessed the direct application of the training concepts and practical outcomes.
As the Group progresses, the emphasis on continuous learning and development remains a central part of its strategy, reinforcing its position as a forward-thinking and dynamic organization committed to excellence in every facet of its operations.
Corporate exposure for employees' children
The David Pieris Group recently conducted its first-ever corporate exposure programme for children of employees providing them with a unique opportunity to gain corporate experience.
Organised by the HR Division, this 5-day programme targeted those who recently sat for the GCE (Advanced Level) Examination and were awaiting results.
The students participated in this, engaging and learning from experienced senior Group Directors and Business Heads. These interactions offered the students valuable insights into business operations and the corporate world.
DPG provides practical training for Technical College students
The David Pieris Group (DPG) recently conducted a two-day technical training session for 18 students following the NVQ Level 4 motorcycle technician course at the Technical College Ratmalana.
The programme, which was conducted at the David Pieris Group Technical Training Centre, covered advanced topics such as Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI), Anti-lock Braking Systems (ABS), and other motorcycle and three-wheeler technologies.
In addition to the training, students had the opportunity to visit the DPG Museum which is located on the same premises.
DPG recognizes its internal trainers with 'Train the Trainer'
The David Pieris Group HR Division recently organised a three-day "Train the Trainer" programme to empower and equip internal trainers with advanced skills, knowledge, techniques and strategies to empower the internal team to a greater heights
This initiative, conducted under the City & Guilds guidelines and standards, focused on developing a team of skilled trainers to deliver high-quality training across the Group.
As part of the internal talent retention strategy, this initiative was designed to identify, nurture and leverage the skills and potential of our team members to drive innovation and excellence across all companies and departments of the Group.
Commenting on the programme, Mr. Vijitha Medagedara, Head of Group HR, said; "In recognition of our trainers' outstanding commitment to the development of respective employees within the Group, we made a conscious decision to conduct this programme across all Companies."
The programme featured the renowned trainer Mr. Harshana Dassanayaka as the Resource Person, who shared his extensive expertise and dynamic training methods with the participants.
Over the three days, participants engaged in intensive sessions designed to enhance their instructional techniques, training methodologies and overall effectiveness as trainers.
A total of 38 participants from across Group companies completed the programme, each receiving a certificate in recognition of their accomplishment.
