David Pieris Group Men’s Basketball Team was crowned Champions of the B Division at the 32nd Mercantile Services Basketball Association’s (MSBA) League Tournament 2024. The thrilling final match, held at the Royal College Sports Complex, Colombo, saw David Pieris Group dominate CDB team with an impressive score of 92-60.

The Most Valuable Player of the Tournament, Vipushan Kanesarasa of David Pieris (Jaffna Regional Office), delivered an outstanding performance, scoring the final-high 23 points, further cementing David Pieris’ remarkable journey through the league.The team’s unbeaten streak throughout the tournament included resounding victories against formidable opponents: Sampath Bank: 70-62, John Keells: 86-65, Seylan Bank: 82-75, HNB: 92-68 and CDB: 88-73.

This remarkable performance follows last year’s triumph in the D Division, where DPG secured the championship and upgraded to the B Division. Now, with their stellar display this year, the team has earned a promotion to the prestigious A Division for the 2025 tournament.The David Pieris Group is committed to nurturing young talent across the island, providing opportunities for individuals to excel in their respective sports.
